Thrangu Dharmakara Publications

Thrangu Dharmakara Publications was founded by Thrangu Rinpoche at Namo Buddha Monastery in 2000. The Committee was formed to input, in Tibetan language font, into the computer many teachings that Thrangu Rinpoche has given to students in foreign countries.

 

Mission

 

The center has a collection of the recorded tapes of the teachings of most of the great lineage holders of the main Tibetan sects.  These tapes will be transcribed into written words and stored into computers for future proof-reading, translation, and publication purposes. These many commentaries will then be available to Thrangu Rinoche's monks and nuns students as well as other Tibetan speakers. As well, tapes of teahings of other great lamas are being stored in library for future transcribing and publishing.

 

Job Nature

 

The monks involved in this work begin at 8:00 a.m. each day and work throughout the day. A group of nuns at Thrangu Tara Abbey are also working on this project at their nunnery. The Dharmakara house has an office, a large computer room, an audio/ visual library for all the monks, a library and rooms for the Dharmakara main staff.

 

The publication committee published the teachings and commentaries on important texts of great masters beginning with Thrangu Rinpoche's teachings on Ngondro Practice (The Four Foundations Practices), teachings on Manhamudra, teachings on the Uttaratrantrashastra and the commentaries on Lo Jong (Seven Points of Mind Training). The committee is also redoing the three years retreat practice texts so that the text will be easy to read. As well, they plan to publish a book in simple and colloquial words intended for those who have less knowledge adn for beginners to Buddhism.

 

For the purpose of the First Vajra Vidya Retreat 2001, Dharmakara published its first text, The Seven Point of Mind Trainings, in Tibetan in three parts.

 

The first part is the main text, the second is the commentary by Joamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and the third part is the teachings by Thrangu Rinpoche based on the commentary. According to the Rinpoche's wish, the first edition of 2000 copies was distributed to other Dharma Institutes and monasteries, especially those in remote mountain districts. .

 

Hong Kong Thrangu Dharmakara Publications

 

There are many Dharma publications in Chinese but these are still a drop in the ocean compared to what is available in English. Therefore, the job of publishing Dharma in Asia languages is even more important.

 

In order to make Buddhism more easily accessible, better understood, and be spread to every corner of the world, Hong Kong Thrangu Dharmakara Publications was founded in 2005. Jobs include: to organize Buddhist Music and Cultural Arts performances, to publish dharma books, buddhist music and chants, videos, CD and VCD.

 

May wisdom rain flow through all the Dharma realms, and may the propagation of Buddhism permeate the whole universe. It shall be like bringing a living spring to all sentient beings.
