HEAL THE WORLD with the dharma of AKSHOBHYA Buddha during Ullambana Festival
Lunar calendar July is an auspicious month of Reciprocating Gratitude, accumulating merits and removing obstacles for oneself and all sentient beings. This is an important practice to let the society recover from the pandemic. Thrangu Centre’s Khenpo Dawa and lamas will lead fellow students to practise AKSHOBHYA Buddha text from 19-22th August through live broadcast.
The Ullambana Festival falls on the 15th July in lunar calendar and is also known as Buddhas Rejoice. It is one of the major Buddhist festivals. Ullambana, a Sanskrit word meaning “saving those who are hung upside down”, refers to saving the sentient beings living in delusion and suffering.
On this day, people donate offerings to Buddhas, monks; offer prayers, and release the spirits of the deceased from suffering; it is an occasion to remember ancestors, be filial to parents, and repay their kindness. Gratitude has been deeply rooted in the teaching of Buddha. It has extended from reciprocating kindness of parents to the great love of reciprocating the kindness of teachers, parents, all sentient beings, and relieving the suffering of those deceased and those beings descended into the three miserable realms.
